I was the Sheriff when we started requiring psychological exams for a CCW permit. The previous Sheriff was pretty "stingy" about CCW's. Once we set the requirements of gun knowledge and safety procedures, a background check, and the psychological exam, i expected a rush on permits. That didn't happen. I think most just wanted to know they could get a permit. It reminds me of a saying my uncle had - "It's better to be judged by twelve than carried by six".

Another Criminal was arrested with a ghost gun (the criminals are making their own these days) that was not bought in a gun store.

Does anyone notice that the number of powerful guns in the hands of veterans post WWII, and Korea was greater then that today? What was the issue of gun violence? This is a social issue started with the hippy dippiy's of the 1970's and promoted by the anti everything. It is the same group that says go ahead get high, and take the guns of rational citizens while being unable to stop smuggling and ghost guns because AI and everyone has a computer CAD capability.

But sure why not. After all the next thing they want to take from you are you rights to own and operate your car.
