California is Safe At Last (just kidding)!
Congratulations California. You did it again. You managed to create another law that protects the criminals and puts the rest of its citizens in danger.
California legislators use the least amount of common-sense in the country. And they’re proud of it. They aren’t even aware of how stupid they are. Governor Newsom bursts with glee to show how he cares for the safety and well-being of “his” people. The only thing on Newsom’s mind, however, is how to clean up his image and make the rest of the country focus on his gleaming white teeth and glossy hair.
I’m referring to all the latest new gun laws taking effect this month. On the surface, the liberal state makes these new “control your life laws” sound so pretty and intended to keep the public safe. Under the new law, people would not be allowed to carry concealed firearms in a variety of California locations, including places of worship, public libraries, amusement parks, zoos and sporting events.
But the definition doesn’t stop there. It basically includes all public spaces, places with people, including privately owned restaurants.
The motivation is not to protect the public, the goal is to control the public. There isn’t a psycho-deranged killer alive who is going to pay any attention to any law banning anything. Instead, it gives gang-bangers, cartels, and killers of all persuasions a green light to do what they do with the knowledge that they won’t have to worry about a law-abiding citizen carrying a gun. This foolish law will have the entire opposite effect of protecting the public.
Doing the Numbers
Just how many concealed-carry gun owners are responsible for any kind of shooting other than to defend themselves or the lives of others?
I can tell you.
There were nearly 20 million conceal permits in 2021, and that’s not counting the states that allow you to carry without a permit. I’m sure with Biden in office that a conceal carry weapon (CCW) permit number in 2023 has climbed significantly. Of those, less than 1% committed a crime.
In California securing a concealed-carry permit requires extensive background checks and hours of classroom and firearm training. In Santa Barbara County you are also required to take a psych test. That isn’t a common requirement outside Santa Barbara. Over the years Sheriff Bill Brown had been very selective who he issued a CCW permit. Perhaps the strictest in the state. You had to prove you were or could be in danger, i.e., carrying a lot of cash or someone was threatening your life. However, since the Supreme Court’s ruling against New York’s law to prevent carrying a concealed handgun outside the home, you can no longer be denied a permit. But that doesn’t mean there won’t be any hurdles, including fees.
Everyone Should Have a CCW Permit
If gun control is the true motive, which it’s not, then make everyone get a CCW. Government would get its background checks and permit applicants would learn how to safely use a firearm. But that’s the last thing communist democrats would ever want; and that is to have a citizenry that can defend itself despite 25 states having no requirements to carry a gun on the streets.
Newsom and the Sacramento clan love to cite California mass shootings as the reason to create stricter gun laws and strut like roosters over all the good they’re doing. I then would challenge them to enter the bowels of Oakland at night, armed with nothing but their courage, or lack thereof, and see how well those new gun laws are working. Or enter the forests of northern California with a granola bar where the Chinese cartels protecting their pot crops make people simply disappear.
Cormac Carney, a US District judge said, “The law “turns nearly every public place in California into a ‘sensitive place’, effectively abolishing the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding and exceptionally qualified citizens to be armed and to defend themselves in public”
Stamping and Taxing Bullets
Let’s be real here. Newsom doesn’t care one morsel about protecting your life, but he gives a big damn about not letting you protect your own. He knows he’s violating the Constitution but enjoys the kudos for being a tough guy. He must show he’s worthy of being president of the United States.
There’s a litany of new laws such as placing stamp marks on bullets, which of course can’t be rubbed off. And where would California be without adding another tax, this time on the sale of bullets. They hope to raise $160 million a year to improve schools’ safety and gun violence intervention programs. We know this tax will continue to go up and that it has nothing to do with schools or programs, it’s just another foot on the neck to make guns more expensive, gain more control and another way to rob Americans of more money. Then there’s the bogus new program to remove firearms from people who aren’t supposed to own them. Do California politicians get to make that determination based on their feelings? Going after people they don’t like? I can’t see this not becoming a problem.
The Life You Save
If you don’t like guns, that’s fine, I fully understand being afraid of something you don’t know or understand. But guns are just machined metal. They don’t do anything of their own accord. They are fun to shoot and it’s another skill in life to master. Should a day ever come, and in the Democrats’ new world of protecting the criminal over the victims, you may be grateful you could effectively protect yourself and your family.
Our country has become extremely violent and it’s not the good guys that are the problem. Don’t be bamboozled by the left making gun owners out to be the bad guys. If you were one of those sitting in the church, or in a mall cafeteria, or even just entering your own house where a CCW stopped the shooter, you might think about getting your own permit and maybe save a life someday.
It could be yours.
I was the Sheriff when we started requiring psychological exams for a CCW permit. The previous Sheriff was pretty "stingy" about CCW's. Once we set the requirements of gun knowledge and safety procedures, a background check, and the psychological exam, i expected a rush on permits. That didn't happen. I think most just wanted to know they could get a permit. It reminds me of a saying my uncle had - "It's better to be judged by twelve than carried by six".
Another Criminal was arrested with a ghost gun (the criminals are making their own these days) that was not bought in a gun store.
Does anyone notice that the number of powerful guns in the hands of veterans post WWII, and Korea was greater then that today? What was the issue of gun violence? This is a social issue started with the hippy dippiy's of the 1970's and promoted by the anti everything. It is the same group that says go ahead get high, and take the guns of rational citizens while being unable to stop smuggling and ghost guns because AI and everyone has a computer CAD capability.
But sure why not. After all the next thing they want to take from you are you rights to own and operate your car.
