The “1619 Project” in Black and White

An Episcopal group is quitting a taxpayer-funded refugee program because President Donald Trump is importing white South Africans whose lives are threatened.

This Episcopalian assemblage has been sopping up U.S. federal grant money for decades under the “humanitarian” guise of giving aid and comfort to vulnerable refugee populations in their quest to seek political and economic asylum in the U.S.

Recent events occurring since January 20, 2025, have put the lie to that notion. I would suppose with some accuracy that advocating for marginalized communities has never been uppermost in the desires of this group nor in others like them. What has been ideologically behind their profitable non-profit efforts to hustle people legally into the U.S. has been an anti-colonialist animus against what these groups perceive as an illegitimate and undeserving nation premised on the theories of The New York Times's “1619 Project.” That “Project” makes the argument that America began as a slavocracy in 1619 and that the American Revolution was a political movement to give legal form to a constitutional nation dedicated to racial superiority based on white supremacy.

Up until 1925, America embodied the spirit of open borders. An entire continent needed to be populated and tamed. Much of the emigration came from white European countries, but not exclusively. There was a smattering of Middle Eastern and Asian peoples who joined the masses from Europe. Not all who processed through entrant points such as Ellis Island were automatically accepted. Many were sent back home because they were harboring infectious diseases. It is true that a great majority of immigrants up to 1925 were white. The U.S.A. was settled by Europeans since 1607 and people in trouble in their home countries naturally gravitate to places where their ancestors have discovered solace and prosperity.

The open borders closed in 1924 for a variety of reasons, one of which was too many people were coming here for purposes of undermining the American Republic as opposed to assimilating into its culture. For the next 41 years, only political refugees who could prove their lives were in danger were accepted as immigrants. But, even then, they all needed sponsors who could and would guarantee to government authorities that those sponsored would not pose a financial burden to their communities.

There were very few newcomers during the Great Depression and WWII. The rise of Soviet Communism after WWII put pressure on areas of the world threatened by Soviet expansion. Most of these areas were inhabited almost exclusively by whites. But with the spread of ideological Marxism through South America, and the capture of Cuba by Fidel Castro and his support of Soviet Communism in 1959, there began a groundswell of non-white political refugees also landing on our shores.

Also, for a variety of reasons, many legitimate American pressure groups were hungering for a more open immigration policy. Some dishonest political groups used this opportunity, however, to import much greater percentages of non-whites with the sole purpose of making America less of a white nation. This all coalesced in the 1965 Immigration Act mainly pushed through Congress at the behest of the newly minted (and recently sainted) U.S. Senator Ted Kennedy. Over time, all the old inhibitions and restrictions were disassembled, and the floodgates opened to anybody from around the world who could get here, in a stream of humanity similar to the early days leading up to 1924.

“Critical Race Theory” Immigration Standards

What led to the virtue-signaling departure from the refugee game played by the Episcopalians just now was a planeload of white South Afrikaners permitted to land on U.S. soil under the same laws and practices that have brought hundreds of thousands of black Africans to our shores. The wolves in priestly vests would have you believe they were granting shelter to the threatened, starving, and those now stateless, but in reality, their program was meant for people of color only. Whites need not apply.

The fact is that these white South Afrikaner farmers seeking safety are powerless under the push by the African National Congress (ANC) to confiscate white farms and turn them over to its mostly black citizenry. Many of those white farmers fear for their lives and have lost trust in the “independent” South African judiciary to protect their interests. The ruling ANC party is in the position now to “pack the Supreme Court” to get its way.

Critical race theory lays quite existentially heavy on the breasts of the white South Afrikaners. In this zero-sum game, there's no room for descendants of those who were once in power and called the shots against the newly acquired power of those their forefathers oppressed. It's been less than 35 years since Nelson Mandela walked free from prison and took over the seat of power in Pretoria democratically.

Any legal protections for the remaining white farmers are inexorably crumbling from Cape Town to Johannesburg. It won't be long before the consequences of racial revolution that has befallen Rhodesia (now Zambia and Zimbabwe) to the north 40 years ago, but to a much smaller white population, will become the destiny of a much larger white South African population. But just as Anglicans on both sides of the Atlantic have little sympathy for the Jews in Israel (or anywhere), they have even less pity in their hearts for prosperous, productive, and religious white farmers stuck in a land where they are not only hated, but in the minds of the authorities, no longer needed.

They must pay for the sins of their forefathers.
