This article, which was obviously written before the election, may become relevant down the road but now it is time to understand that President Trump was the person on the ballot and to use President Obama’s term when the Democrats lost sixty seats in the House and lost the Senate, President Trump got “shellacked.” I watched a number of the President’s political rallies on CSpan and too often they degenerated into ad hominem attacks. Also, stigmatizing opponents as socialists and communists didn’t resonate. A poll on one of the legacy news programs last night showed that a significant percentage of the electorate was opposed to socialism, yet the election outcome indicated this did not determine how they voted. The so-called landslide election of 2024 went to the head of the president, and in two years has been reversed. In politics there is a difference between victory and success. Success is based on policies that gain general acceptance, or consensus. In a country of 350,000,000 people this task is truly challenging, and I think it is important to keep a strong moral underpinning in an ever-changing technological society. I always have hope for a country that keeps trying to form a more perfect union.

For the most part we just witnessed the repudiation of a corrupt, narcissistic, prevaricating, amoral, self-dealing president, who lied to us about "ending wars on day one," "reversing inflation," "no more forever wars," "releasing the Epstein Files," "climate change being a hoax," "Ukraine starting the war," "the 2020 election being stolen," and "putting America first."
Also, we witnessed the unanimous repulsion of an immature bully who, far beneath his supposedly dignified title as world leader, revels in name-calling perceived foes as "low I.Q." "crooked," "ugly," "retarded," "tranny Annie," "Talarfreako," "shithole countries," and other aspersions, ad nauseam.
And then, of course, there's the 34 felony convictions, the pay-for-pardons, the "grab 'em by their pussies," the free jet from Qatar, and all the self-aggrandizing scams that somehow boosted his net worth from $2.3b in 2024 to somewhere around $7b today.
You can call it "TDS" but I believe yesterday's overwhelming results prove it is not a psychosis afflicting the majority of Americans, but rather a clear-eyed assessment of Trump's maligned, silver-spoon-fed, never chastised character.
For many of you, your support for Trump and his apparatchiks was somehow linked to some "Christian" values (regarding which I would say you were duped). But I dare you to watch Talarico's acceptance speech (linked below) and compare it to Trump's infamous "American carnage" acceptance speech and his promises of retribution, then determine for yourselves who the real "Christian" is.
You had the opportunity to support true conservatives of infallible character -- such as Liz Cheney, Mitt Romney, "Little" Marco Rubio, "Lying" Ted Cruz, etc. -- but you chose instead to go with the arrogant reality TV personality. Please choose better next time.
