Some of you are missing the point and go right back to Trump being the evil anti-christ and not how our government has been doing business. I love America but that doesn't mean I have to close my eyes and accept everything. Put Trump aside for you haters and focus on how far apart our government has stepped away from those it's supposed to serve. Trump may not be the answer, but for right now, if he accomplishes half of what he says, it will still be 1,000% times better than what the Biden's group had done to this country. There will be complete transparency and he's going to go to work everyone. Let me know in two years how bad you think things are. Or better yet, in two months. Changes for the good will come very rapidly. It already has.
Agree with you, Henry. On the Health and Food reform front - I'm super impressed by the post-election summits that Bobby Jr. is behind. These are not being held to get votes. These are amazing line-ups of speakers like John Klar and Joel Salatin. And the emphasis is on hearing what non-professionals have to say and giving people (yes, a *truly* diverse group of people) the opportunity to form a community based on these concerns. Below is a link to an upcoming Heal & Nourish Summit in Phoenix. When have we had this before from politicians who have just won? This is Trump's Team. This is Trump's doing.
RFK, Jr. doesn’t march to the same band as the Democrat or Republican parties and, therefore, his mission is suspect. I know a lot of physicians who know absolutely nothing about nutrition and will not support a plan to remediate the damage that has been done in the United States by food industry, much less the mRNA vaccines.
Great, let's really revisit this in 2 months or 2 years and see, but you need to define what "1,000% times better" even means. GDP growth? Average or median wages? Average net worth per capita? Debt? Deficit?
I'm old enough and familiar enough with political history to understand your article could fit just about any election in history, and your points have been made by people literally since democracy existed. Also, you can look at global politics and see the exact same arguments (this one is evil, this one will save us), and they never do and never will.
Ruth I agree with you about looking back. All elections for the most are the same story. Only this time it really is much different. Inflation is through the roof. Crime is through the ruth. Drug deaths are through the roof. Immigration has taken over our cities and cost Americans billions in dollars and murders and rapes. We are no longer self dependent and an all out world war is sniffing in the wind. Had Kamala won, all that would have continued and became exponentially worse. Using 1000% is to say if any of the above can get even half fixed, it would be a HUGE win for you and me.
Ok, well, "through the roof" is not a tangible thing, but even still.. You are making the same argument about drug overdoses that liberals made about Covid deaths. The causes of death are just as murky: deaths from co-occuring underlying conditions, poisoning by someone else (homicide), accidental poisoning are all lumped into "death by drug overdose". And I feel like it's basically common knowledge now that most homicide victims and kidnapping victims know their predators. So... IDK, I think we're all plenty capable of being terrible; good too, of course. And you know why the whole "immigrants eating pets" thing died so quickly - that lady caught on video eating a cat was 100% red-blooded American; several generations of American.
Almost a month in.. how's that vision of "complete transparency" and Trump working with "everyone" coming along? Does handing over the Treasury Department to Elon Musk and mass layoffs of Democrats (or any Trump opposition) fit your vision? What about acquiring Greenland, Canada, and the Panama Canal? Taking over Gaza?
Also, how's that Secretary of Defense pick sitting with you? Or do you not care that we essentially have someone with little-to-no actual experience commanding troops making decisions that impact the lives of our soldiers overseas?
Right on Henry! Every time I go into CVS in Solvang they are pushing us to take vaccines of one type or another. I tell them every single time I do not trust these any longer because our Government has done nothing but lie lie lie!! Along with Big Pharma!!! You are right on, we have a lot of hard work ahead, to get this country back on track, from all the damage done by the previous administration!
Think about this the Board of Supervisors discussed for almost 2 hours the issue of illegals. The truth is that if any public or NGO employee allows a former deported person (who is now in the country and working or getting government subsidy) they are in violation of Federal Law that carries with it a 10 year prison sentence.
Yet the government of the State of Calif. says it will stop any actions to notify ICE.
Are not these the same types who would push the button that the missiles are coming?
As Mr. Shulte asked, "Will you believe the next warning?"
May Trump withhold federal funds from CA until our elected officials, Sheriffs, and paid bureaucrats fully comply with federal law to protect and serve citizens and lawful immigrants by securing ports of entry, removing VISA overstays, and obtaining a ruling on who is “subject to the jurisdiction of” this Country as required for birthright citizenship. Is treason by government officials and family members to be accepted because of a Biden pardon? Congressional Investigations lead to no consequences so what’s the point of seeking the truth? Is the status quo desired? Sustainable? Thought provoking article.
Thank you for writing. I believe that SB Current writers present good ideas and yours is, so part of that "trust" can be relied upon. Furthermore, the trust of main stream media has been scrutinized over the last few years and their market share of believability is diminishing. We here on the coast of California are surrounded by many, many followers of the MSM, so the din is very loud. However, outside this area, many don't trust the federal government agencies and have expressed their opinion by voting. It did help a lot by having Biden and then Harris run exposing their incompetency and the bias of the Feds. You are correct, it will take some time to correct the damage of the last four years and the many years of unbelievable news reporting.
I suppose it depends on your point of view. I don't trust anyone involved in the creation of a $73 billion deficit for the state. But, I am out numbered by the voters in California who created a super majority of democrats in the legislature and foiled an attempt to recall the governor. Then, there is Biden and his family of influence peddlers. And the Clinton's, I didn't trust them either. It tends to run downhill from there, especially in this age of professional politicians and their appointees, who will do anything to cling to office.
Terrific article, Henry. Something that continues to play over again and again for me, how easy it was to secure compliance from us. I reflect back and I am shocked. Unquestioningly, we sequestered ourselves in our homes. Wore (useless) cloth masks in wide open landscapes like Shoreline Park. Obeyed orders to stay away from beaches. Endured months of taped off playgrounds. And nearly all of us, myself included, opened our arms to the jab -- once, twice, and some continuing to this day. Shut kids up in homes and apartments, and denied them what is essential for healthy development: socialization. And the elderly and infirm died alone. The greatest betrayal by our government ever. I pledge never to forget, and never to permit the takeover of my life again.
3%- 5% of Americans are not sheep: we don’t and won’t comply. Rather, we question and confront both Authority and media, budget time to research, and in the absence of MSM, we message in the underground (limited accessible social media and private threads). Will this percentage of courageous American leaders increase? Seems it has remained about the same since the American Revolution. Few are willing to risk all to stand up for truth. It’s easier to go along to get along. Our polite society teaches kindness, compliance, and acceptance; we don’t teach competition, critical thinking, and civic duty/ advocacy skills. It’s wonderful to see citizens speaking out, until censured.
I was vilified for standing up against election fraud and the phony lockdown protocols. I was defamed, slandered and watched our hard earned retirement savings drained. That’s not to mention shackled in leg irons and having my modesty stripped away standing naked in front of the people who supposedly “work for us”.
Most of the people who should have known better turned their backs on my husband and me. They didn’t want the government to come after them. Now maybe people can understand how the “good Germans” claimed “How could we have known?” after the WWII atrocities were revealed. Those who stood by me publicly are great Americans who showed the courage that was once common place in this country but scare since the surveillance state began.
My husband and I paid a heavy price, and continue to be on supervised probation. We can be thrown in jail on a whim. We are watching it happen to other J6ers at an accelerated rate after the election. It is nice to see people finally waking up. The next step is to grow a pair. I also suggest following me and my husband on X. We post a lot of what really happened and what continues to happen to J6ers there. We are @grannysnakebite and @XJ6Grandpa
If it wasn’t for Elon Musk buying X we could be waiting for Kamala’s inauguration. Support the platform.
I understand that you feel strongly about your experiences, but I find the comparison to the Holocaust deeply troubling. As a Jewish person with grandparents who survived that atrocity, equating the actions of today’s government to the horrors of Nazi Germany minimizes the unimaginable suffering and loss endured by millions of people.
While I respect your right to share your perspective, I hope we can acknowledge the importance of using historical comparisons thoughtfully and accurately.
Hang in their Granny, you'll have your revenge in time. As I will with the FBI and the City of Santa Barbara. I know what it feels like. I think the city and the FBI figured I'd be either dead or insane from their tormenting activities. It isn't working.
I’m not interested in revenge; I want people to realize they need to do a better job when it comes to protecting the God given freedom bestowed on them. Every big crisis is easy to see coming, but a lack of courage and a desire to profit financially from the crisis causes people to pretend they can’t see it. The burst of the housing bubble in 2008, the endless wars, the surveillance state, the Covid lockdown, followed by the vax mandates. The creation and response to each of these was so counter to our Constitution. We have the most exceptional form of governance ever devised but people are destroying ourselves and then saying, “How could I have known”.
A starting point would be to have a DOJ that will hold the heads of federal agencies liable for perjury for lying, under oath, to congress. Congress can hold them in contempt, but only the DOJ can charge them with a crime.
Everyone should be concerned and alarmed about this undeniable fact, that our own government is untruthful with us. For me, the first lie began with the assassination of JFK. Was our own government involved? CIA,FBI, Mafia, Castro? Since then, the lies have only gotten worse, if that’s even possible. The Biden administration is predicated on lies. Many too numerous to even outline in the course of this discussion. First and foremost, the Biden administration lied about the president’s cognition, mental competence and it’s gone downhill from there.
I am hopeful the Trump administration will blow the lid off this ongoing, pack of lies. Yes, there needs to be severe consequences and significant repercussions to include jail time!
As Jack Nicholson famously said “you can’t handle the truth,” to which I say, oh yes we can!
JFK was a bleeding-heart liberal who would have pushed all kinds of liberal agendas. Wasn't "No Child Left Behind" also a Kennedy-authored piece of legislation? Robert Kennedy?
THIS garbage is what is wrong with our country. Lack of critical thinking and willingness to believe anything that aligns with your worldview is truth; THAT’S the problem. Seriously, citizens believing ONE guy (and the President to boot!) is the answer to all our problems was the worst nightmare for our founding fathers, yet, here we are.
Imagine if people fought the Polio vaccine like we fought the Covid vaccine… actually, we may not have to imagine that as all the cool viruses are making a comeback (my 75 y.o. mother heard a whooping cough for the first time in like 50 years a month ago)!
Ruth, I don't believe that most of the folks that voted for Trump are as gullible as you seem to think. Trump has put together a team of people from diverse backgrounds who are trying to undo the mess that this country has become because of too much overreach from the government. We are not a bunch of unintelligent rubes, like you make out, that want to take us back to the stone age. And to compare the polio epidemic with the Covid is completely stupid. It sounds like you are content with the workings of the Biden/Harris administration and that is your choice but apparently not the choice of most Americans. I also have to question your definition of critical thinking.
Yeah, see, you literally just demonstrated my point. Was I hyperbolic about Polio? Sure. But you took my broad statements about a population of 340+ million people and twisted them into a personal attack against you. Why?
Why couldn't you respond with something like, "Dems treated Obama like Jesus too", and I would have responded with, "Yeah, and I said the same thing back then too, and I definitely didn't think he deserved a Nobel Peace Prize", OR, "I don't think Trump is the solution to all our problems and, no, I really don't believe things like (example) mass deportations are a good idea or will really happen, but some of his other ideas really resonate with me...", and I'd probably say, "That's fair, and I don't think he's the tyrant and the harbinger of the end of times like a lot of liberals do either".
^ THIS is how you have a debate with critical thinking skills. CRITICAL THINKING means being critical of ALL ideas, including your OWN. Also, you critique the ideas, not the people. Do you know any Democrats who were thrilled about Joe Biden? Because I don't.
Now you try it: Tell me why you assume I think you're a rube (or really, that I think ONLY Trump supporters are rubes)? Why do you assume I am "content with the workings of the Biden/Harris administration"?
Perhaps, Ruth, you should reread what you first posted. And actually, I don't need you to tell me how I should have responded to your comment. You seem to get a little too upset when people don't say what you want them to.
Earl gets it!! Seriously, being a centrist moderate is a lonely place these days... it's like a really terrible unending game of monkey in the middle..
Did you take the covid 19 vaccine? If the answer is yes, your so called whooping cough is a side effect of the vaccine. The more boosters you took, the more the body is trying to flush out toxins from the jab. Why do I know this: I've tested vials of the covid shots in the lab, done toxicology analyses and these shots every single one of them be it Pfizer, Moderna, J & J, or Novavax, are all deadly in one way or another. I can go on and on on the side effects of all vaccines in general, but that will be several pages long.
Yes, I know the history of the Tea Party movement and I've watched it evolve and grow. I also understand the likely catalysts and why it gained such traction: Globalization and offshoring jobs, environmental concerns killing mining and coal industries, and not only NOT retraining these workers to prepare for other types of jobs, but also telling them it's their fault and they shouldn't complain because white people have it so easy (insult to injury), plus the need to expand welfare services because of all this among a growing population, while cutting taxes (hence the exploding deficit & debt), and still trying to act like the world's moral authority and caretaker sending money and resources everywhere. What else am I missing? But seriously, there's no way you think all of that just poof happened over the past decade and is the sole responsibility of the Democratic Party.... "Obamacare" was originally "Romneycare" - remember Mitt Romney, the Republican?
Our entire economy now relies on increasing shareholder wealth, which also needs ever-increasing profit margins. So how do you increase American material production without vastly increasing costs and prices across the board, and what makes you believe someone who so clearly benefits from this current economic system would actually want to change things? The biggest difference between you and me is that I don't trust any one of any political affiliation to do that.
You start judgy, but then you say something almost nice, I think? Providing "value where opposition energies will be targeted" I don't know what you mean by that, but I'll take it as a conciliatory comment.
Ok, yeah, sure. Fine. whatever. I’m wrong and you’re right. You are smart and I’m stupid. Trump is great and will save us all. There you go, I hope you’re satisfied now.
Mr. Schulte, I hadn’t planned to comment on your article, but then as I got further down I changed my mind. In fact, my comments are not just for your article, but also for some of the people that commented on your post. I just didn’t want to respond individually, so you all can pick and choose the one that may apply to you.
Let’s start with vaccines that just won’t die. It keeps being resuscitated. I am willing to bet that most of the contributors here are over 40 years old. If not older. Did your parents not have you vaccinated from infancy through your kinder years, and beyond? If you are completely vaccine free, you’re very lucky and you can thank the parents that did have their children vaccinated because that’s what kept you alive. It was mentioned of being forced to have the Covid vaccine, I believe there were many adults who refused it.
Now onto lying and tweaking the truth. The previous trump administration did not tweak anything. They just out and out lied and trump’s press secretary McEnany was very skilled at pushing trumps lies. There won’t be a lot of transparency in the trump/musk administration. They will continue to tell you what they want you to believe and they’ve started before they even take office.
Somewhere it was mentioned that secret agents were woven in with the January 6 rioters, that people wanted to assassinate trump. If this is true, why did they attack the Capital building and not the White House where he was hiding, gleefully watching the chaos. It seems you’ll be having fun watching the changes, as you write here. You won’t be the only one. Anyone with any type of financial wealth will be having fun because they won’t have to go through the trump/musk agenda, along with the appointed oligarchs.
As for the Kraken, it was released in 2016, it came down an escalator. You do know the Kraken was not a good thing and it was defeated and turned to stone in the end.
A couple of people commented on critical thinking? Wasn’t Florida trying to ban critical thinking of some sort?
Someone mentioned wanting to know what actually happened with the JFK assassination. I could be mistaken but didn’t trump promise to release these classified documents his last time in office? Someone else mentioned people expect the president to fix everything. This president-elect has promised to do just that. I truly hope he can. I would gladly eat crow if he accomplishes what he promised. I tried to proofread this as I went so please excuse any grammar or punctuation errors.
Julia, I completely agree with you - including the end about happily eating crow if Trump actually fixes things.. but I don't know if any one person can or even if it's possible without a massive revolution/breaking up the U.S. I don't expect, but I still hope.
Ruth, most people know it takes more than one man to put things straight. The right people are needed. Not just celebrities and reality stars. The thing is, that’s what he kept saying on day one, on day one. Like they say, it takes a village, or in this case a nation.
There are undercover agendas at any political rally. So what were 25 agents supposed to do in a violent stoked up mob that Trump did nothing to stop? Flash their badges and say stop?
Well, as Darwin referenced, (actually it was Herbert Spencer), “survival of the fittest.” I doubt he was including mental capacity, which excludes 90% of the dopes on the street.
The average American doesn’t know, doesn’t care and doesn’t think about the government. Their only interest is how to cheat on their taxes, not get a traffic ticket, and a warm place to sleep.
Growing up in New England in the Boston area I learned at school about the history of the area. And learning about my ancestor's involvement in the creation of the country. My dad brought me to many of the historical museums in the area, the nautical ones I found most fascinating. Went on a tour of "Old Ironsides" (USS Constitution) as a school class activity. Stood at the Old North Bridge where the "shot heard round the world" was fired. Visiting old forts was one of my favorites. I felt a closeness to the country. Never any subjects discussed about the present-day obsessions which are mostly nonsense. Kids need to feel they are living in a special country to help them to feel special themselves. Kids are lost today with little ambition and more interested in how to make a quick buck with the least amount of work.
Bill, I felt a real sense of USA pride when I visited Philadelphia and Boston. Kids who are not able to visit historic sites don’t have the foundation of who they are in the timeline of history. Such a shame that kids in California are not able to participate in these history-developing excursions.
Dig this, I just received a question sent by Marjorie Taylor Greene, my Georgia area representative. She asked in her constituent survey, "Would you support Elon Musk for Speaker of the House?" I said, "Yes." But I really haven't a clue whether or not he should be considered for this position. Speaking of who can you "trust," I don't think we ever know until someone has been given the chance. We have to look at their "record," and determine their past history. In engineering, it's an easy task because the success of past projects is easy to identify because we are talking physical entities. Elon is successful, certainly as an engineer and leader. But that's not the same as Speaker of the House.
I've interviewed many engineers applying for work at Fortune 500 companies (Raytheon, Teledyne, Litton Industries) for the purpose of finding good (meaning productive) engineers. Why me, because they wanted more engineers like me. You could say I was a high paid engineer because I produced work on schedule that worked. That's what it's all about ... producing working stuff on schedule. And the ability to switch over and work on things completely different. I don't understand your comment having to introduce empirical evidence. Are you by chance an engineer?
We lived in Santa Barbara on 3236 Laurel Canyon Road, SB and were kicked out via city government with the help of the Dem FBI which the Dem FBI followed us here to GA. The Dem FBI is now staying far from me now that they know I wasn't what they expected. The Dem FBI was involved with the sabotage of our new swimming pool in Dalton, GA. I will find an attorney and planning to sue SB for $66.6M and some small change <g>. This will happen when Trump gets into office. I'll be suing the FBI and the City of Dalton, GA, too. The Dem FBI brainwashed the locals, character assassinations is one of their specialties; real thugs, no doubt about it. Very, very long story. Involves TikTok which if anyone knows about that, contact me.
Ya, I like her spunk. She's backed Rand Paul's recommendation of Elon being the Speaker of the House ... the Speaker need not be a member of Congress, ha.
MTG, the rep who blamed California wildfires on Jewish space lasers? Lol. Actually, she and I agree on one thing - that the U.S. should break apart and not be one country anymore.
I think the amount of work a Speaker of the House puts in is up to the person engaged in the task. Past holders of this position like Gingrich were exceptional. Others sort of laxed. Elon could look at the task as engagement to make others think what they are doing or should be doing. Engineer types do a lot of dot-connecting. Elon would be good at finding out who's really doing what. I don't think there's much thought involved in anything done in DC. No doubt they all play the stock market game to some extent. I purchased the Starlink Internet hardware, and I have to climb great heights to mount the antenna, a tree or a roof. Installation is the owner's problem. Elon just sells the hardware. Funny, Starlink shows women climbing heights to install the antenna. Trying to shame the guys. So-called installers don't respond.

I agree with you Pol-Pol, but why do so many people think Bobby Jr. is a little coo-coo?
I'm sure those same people think you and I are a little coo-coo, too, Earl.
Well, they're right about half the time! (I'll leave it to you to figure which half :)
Lol!

Truth? It would be great if the truth will's out.
26 Jan. cannot come fast enough.

What's happening on 26 Jan?
The Federal Gov. officially changes hands.
Like when the captain of our ship was not officially replaced until the new CO said at the Ceremony - “I relieve you sir.”
Excellent article!!! I agree with all of the points made. Fight! Fight, Fight!!!
Amen, Barbara. And if anyone knows how to fight the good fight it's you!
I’ll follow Polly Frost on Our Santa Barbara!!
How’s that fight going? We great yet?

My point is that evil happens when good people do nothing.
ANd did Americans really send men to the moon?
JFK was a bleeding-heart liberal who would have pushed all kinds of liberal agendas. Wasn't "No Child Left Behind" also a Kennedy-authored piece of legislation? Robert Kennedy?
Thank you, Henry, for your thoughtful article.
CRITICAL THINKING is difficult to consider _ when I'm right all the time_ ! :)
Very impressive - I'll take your conclusions over the govt Pablum any time!
Less mean judgement, but still assuming I'm not at all open to the future. Do you think I'm over here planning to storm the Capitol?
Ok then, if the Democrats are a cult, who is the cult leader? Who is the Democratic equivalent of Donald Trump?
Hey! One comment that's not an assumption or judgement about someone!
Excellent.
^ judgy and a bit rude at the end
On Jan. 6th, did you see the animals crawling up the wall and steps to get into OUR,
U.S. capital? Breaking in to offices? The Capital police should have been given orders to
shot gun their legs off!
I agree with you Mr. Angelas far as crawling animals, but maybe not shoot their legs, off just break a few legs maybe.
Bill your comparison to engineering results is flawed because ‘past projects’ include empirical evidence of their successes or failures.
I kinda don’t think Elon would make a great Speaker of the House because he’d aways have one foot out the door seeking his next miracle.
What's a Georgia boy doing commenting on a local California newspaper article?
I'm MTG's _biggest_ fan!
LOL, I don't know about the lasers, but maybe the country should break apart in three places.
